Sunrise & Snow Sculptures

Albeit a hand numbing morning, that is the best time to photograph the snow sculptures in Breckenridge. I just love this event and seeing the finished product. What a fun time these teams must have working together all week to create their master pieces. Have a look at some of my favorites from this year, 2018.

28 Years of Snow Sculpting !

Although it is an awesome thing to capture the crisp, clean images of the snow sculptures when they are just finished, it was equally interesting to see the beginning of the event too. Watching how the teams begin to shape their 25 ton blocks of snow into works of art is pretty cool.  Here are a few shots from yesterday in Breckenridge.  The Snow Sculptures are located in the area around the Riverwalk Center at 150 West Adams Avenue, Breckenridge, CO 80424.

Thursday night is one of the best times to visit. Artists are preparing to stay up all night to do detail work and the atmosphere is celebratory. Tune in on January 26, 2018 – 6:00 PM for the official awards ceremony followed by a professional acrobatic Cirque Show.

Hazel’s House

I had the recent pleasure of photographing Hazel Murray’s home in Cordillera.  Hazel is an amazing artist so her home was certainly one of my all time favorites. The design of her home could only come from having a love of unique shapes and spaces. She mentioned that their architect had literally come to their last home to see how they lived in order to determine the best design for their new home that he was about to build in Cordillera. Not only is the design of the home outstanding, but the elegant touches of Hazel’s artwork all around make for a visual feast.  My favorite area in Hazel’s home is definitely the art studio.

What a treat to wake up here every day!
